The second appearance will be as moderator to a film Q&A, as the Gene Siskel Film Center on State Street welcomes filmmaker Bing Liu and his mentor/producer Gordon Quinn of Kartemquin Films on September 9th, 2018. Liu will be screening his amazing documentary “Minding the Gap.” In a comprehensive interview with HollywoodChicago.com, Liu outlined particulars of the filmmaker’s journey, and what seems to be a deceptively simple nostalgic look at his childhood obsession with skateboarding, becomes something more defining.
Gordon Quinn is the “quin” in Kartemquin, the essential Chicago production house that gave the world “Hoop Dreams” and the recent “America to Me” on the Starz Network. After the 5pm screening, the two filmmakers will talk about the process of taking a skate documentary to another level. For details and ticket info, click here.
