CHICAGO– It’s 2023 for the Midwest Film Festival. The Chicago institution – the only ongoing monthly film fest in the city – has their Opening night on Monday, January 30th, 2023, with a screening of the 2022 “Best of the Midwest” short films.
Six Shorts are in the program, top honorees at the BMA Awards … “La Folie” (directed by Danielle Batson), “Repeater” (Carbon Creative Studio), “Rough River Lake” (Mary Tilden), “Heartsong” (Aurora Real de Asua), “Period Drama” (Anushka Tina Nair and Lauryn Anthony) and “Fish Eye” (Colin Parker). The Midwest Film Festival has been a staple in Chicago’s film community for 15 years. At the beginning of 2020, it reinvented the concept with a a new outlook, facilitated by Executive Director Erica Duffy. During the Best of the Midwest Awards in November, it celebrated being one of the most influential, popular and provocative film festivals in the city of Chicago.
